Mark Meadows Bio Wiki

Mark Meadows, Trump's Final White House Chief of Staff, Indicted

Background

Mark Randall Meadows, born July 28, 1959, is an American politician who served as the 29th White House chief of staff from March 31, 2020, to January 20, 2021, under the Trump administration.

Prior to his role as chief of staff, Meadows served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for North Carolina's 11th congressional district from 2013 to 2020.

Indictment and Investigation

On December 14, 2022, Meadows was one of 18 individuals indicted by a grand jury in Fulton County, Georgia, in connection with efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in that state.

The charges against Meadows include solicitation of election fraud, conspiracy to commit election fraud, conspiracy to disrupt the lawful function of government, and racketeering. Prosecutors allege that Meadows attempted to pressure Georgia election officials to change the results of the election in Trump's favor.

Meadows initially cooperated with the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack but later refused to testify publicly. It is not expected that he will testify in the current criminal case against him.

Meadows' indictment is the latest development in a series of investigations into attempts to overturn the 2020 election results. The Fulton County grand jury has also indicted former Trump attorney John Eastman and several other Trump allies.
