Mitchell Schwartz, Former Chiefs and Browns Tackle, Announces Retirement

Career Cut Short by Back Injury

All-Pro Tackle Hangs Up Cleats

Mitchell Schwartz, a four-time All-Pro offensive tackle who played for the Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns, has announced his retirement from the NFL. The 33-year-old made the announcement on Twitter, citing a lingering back injury as the reason for his decision.

Schwartz was drafted by the Browns with the 37th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. He spent five seasons in Cleveland before signing with the Chiefs in 2017. With the Chiefs, Schwartz helped anchor an offensive line that played a significant role in the team's Super Bowl LIV victory in 2020.

Throughout his career, Schwartz was known for his exceptional blocking abilities and leadership. He was selected to the Pro Bowl five times and earned All-Pro honors four times. Schwartz's retirement is a significant loss for the NFL, as he was widely considered one of the best offensive tackles in the league.
